The Wall of Fame: Jo Dixon, Jackie Ashenden, Rachael Johns & Angie Peters

A huge congrats to Jo Dixon, Jackie Ashenden, Rachael Johns, Angie Peters who have hit that New Voices submit button and get to eat cheese and drink bubbly while the rest of us talk to our computers.

Jo was first off the mark on the 6th with Jackie, Rachael and Angie hot on her heels on the 7th. I’m thrilled that The Wall is already growing and I’ll get a chance to check out their amazing chapters. It’s been too long since I’ve had my hot little electrodes on their writing!

Details and links (because I know you’re all dying to read them like me):

Congratulations ladies I hope you’re celebrating your bravery and hard work!

Lacey, you are completely fabulous. Thank you for putting up the links and for spreading the word. Now, when do we get to read your chapter?

Lacey, you naughty thing posting links! Lol! Must say, I'm in fabulous company though. Since all these ladies have great chapters up! This competition's gonna be a hard one.
*helps self to glass of bubbly and a slice of brie* Anyone else brave enough to go on Lacey's wall?

Jo - No problem at all, I do so love to be fabulous ;-). Ah my little chapter is still a work in progress. I'm actually doing an exam today *boo, hiss* which means I'm behind but determined to catch any entries during breaks, hence my naughty commenting here.

Kerrin - Jackie is fabulous! I haven't been able to read her entry yet because of Higher Learning/Torture exam study but I have no doubt it is intimidatingly good.

In fact I suspect all our fellow blog sisters are going to scare the pants off me and that includes you. So... YOU WILL ENTER AND NOT DEPRIVE ME OF YOUR ENTRY!!! That's right, I've used captials on you.

In case that wasn't enough to convince you I will withhold the celebratory cheese and champagne and sit on you until you hit that submit button ;).

Oh I'll do it.

Jackie - Bad Lacey ;)

I couldn't help myself but now I'm not sure if I should switch the names. I used Ashenden because of your blog but I'm happy to change the wall and the post if you like? Easy peasy.

I've heard so many fabulous things about your entry!! I have an exam tonight (they're never when you want them to be) and I know if I get on the site there won't be any study happening. I'll get my greedy fingers on it though just try and stop me!

Great stories ladies! Loved them. Caroline x p.s well done Lacey for flying the flag as well. I'm too scared to sub mine yet. I need another week before I do a "Jackie!" (see my blog!)

Oh, wow, Lacey - you're fantastic! Aren't we lucky to have you doing our PR since I'm not so good at tooting my own horn, so to speak.

Are we able to have a non-alcoholic beverage? How about a mocktail for me, please?

Good luck with your exam - nasty things they are :(

Yeah, Jackie and Rach's entries are FABULOUS! Haven't read Jo's yet, but the night is still young..All I can say is that I'm glad I entered mine before reading Jackie's otherwise I would've lost the nerve to enter.

BTW, I can't work out how the ratings system is calculated. When I log in, I can't rate an entry so I don't understand how they come up with the ratings.

Lacey Devlin said...

Hi Caroline - I'll fly the flag for you too next week, but that would mean giving up a teeny bit of your annonymity...

(*Wails* I WANT TO READ IT!!!)

Ahem.

Angie - you should toot away lol. I'm having a blast blogging about everyone's entries!

We have mocktails galore. I've even whipped up a few recipes from my bar tending days ;).

Thanks for the luck re the exam :).

Ah yes, having read all of your entries now I think I'll need a bit of time to recover my courage lol. The standard really has been set!

Ahh the ratings system. People are actually complaining about it to M&B all over the place. I haven't tried to rate anything yet (and yes it's because of my misplaced password - I will find it!) but apparently you need to be careful or you can accidentally reduce instead of increase the chatper's overall rating.

I do know that five roses is 100% so I would assume 20% increments which averaged out get the percentage of votes e.g. 55%?

It's a five star system. So for something you really liked you'd be looking at a 4 rose (80%) or a 5 rose (100%) rating. In theory I'm assuming if a story is averaging 75% and you give it 2 roses (40%), perhaps even 3 roses (60%) it's overall rating is going to drop.

That's just my understanding, definitely not gospel. I should point out that no one should take the ratings to heart especially with all the reports of rating mistakes (people have tried to click and drag the rating to increase it and instead that means they've given one rose). This is really just the market research part of it for M&B to get an idea of what the public wants in a plot, characters etc.

In the terms and conditions for the second round we'll only be able to officially vote once (although you'll probably still be able to comment on all of them). Hopefully all of the kinks will be worked out by then!!

Jo - If you're still lurking out there, do you have a blog? I couldn't find a link to leave a comment about your chapter :(. I'll be able to do it on NV soon though :).

Elissa Graham said...

Oh Lacey She-Whose-Knowledge-Of-NV-Knows-No-Bounds *bows and scrapes*, this may sound crazy but what is the difference between the Passion genre and the Contemporary Romance? Would a Modern Heat equate to a CR or would it be a Passion? I know for sure mine doesn't fit in Warm & Cosy, Historical, Suspense or Paranormal but as no one is leaping into bed in the first chapter it's hard to judge which is the Mod Heat equivalent.

Lacey Devlin said...

Ha ha! Ah Elissa you make me laugh me laugh.

You're not crazy at all. The Contemporary includes the Modern, Modern Heat and Medical lines and descriptions for each are on the website at: http://www.romanceisnotdead.com/Enter/Contemporary-Romance

Passion includes the Desire and Blaze lines and descriptions for them are at: http://www.romanceisnotdead.com/Enter/Passion

Hopefully those sites will help you decide where it belongs if you're still on the fence but Modern Heat is definitely Contemporary :)

Does this mean you're entering soon or are you just getting ready for the big day?

Elissa Graham said...

Soon is such a subjective term, wouldn't you agree. Soon to you may mean within a day or two whereas soon to me means when my heart stops thumping at an alarming rate, my hands stop shaking, I cease breaking into an instant sweat (oops I mean glisten) and I no longer feel like I have to visit the necessary immediately EVERY time I think about entering.

I think I'll be the Pantene entry *does best Rachel Hunter immitation* "It won't happen overnight but it will happen!"

So yes.....soon. BTW my verification word is lations. Not sure if that's short for congratu-lations, adu-lations, consu-lations, titilla-lations (????) but I think it's a sign my chapter requires more contemp-lations before I enter!

Lacey Devlin said...

Lol. I'd go with congratulations if I were you! I should probably get back to the writing myself ;)

Lacey - I've been working the last couple of days and that drastically reduces my web time but just wanted to say thanks for this "publicity."

Can I go on the wall Lacey?

Have just uploaded "In Too Deep" to the Contemporary Romance section.

Can someone pass me a paper bag please?

Oh and do I get a badge for being brave???

Lacey Devlin said...

Rach - Ah yes I know the working thing well. It's no problem at all ;).

Lacey Devlin said...

CONGRATULATIONS LORRAINE!

Consider yourself on The Wall and would you believe I'm making up badges for the blogs as we speak?
