Grab Your Keyboard

The elves have told me there are some great writing opportunities coming up, so consider this the first wave.

With as little as 1,000 words you can win the opportunity to pitch your manuscript to a living, breathing editor at Harlequin. That's better than a punch in the face, right?

Entries close March 24 & you can find information on the opportunity here and here.

Also, if you're a YA writer, keep an eye on Liz Pelletier's blog, for her next open call for a spec writer for Entangled Publishing.

Good luck and happy writing!

Happy New Year!

HAPPY 2013!!!
I hope you all launched into the New Year with the subtlety of one of Katy Perry’s firework bras. This year is going to be a great one. Yes, cause I said so.
I’ve been a bad blogger this past year— very bad blogger. Part of it is Twitter’s fault—bad Twitter— and part of it is due to chronic illness. Don’t feel too bad for me, I have chocolate.
Anyhoo, I’m about to start treatment for said illness, so my blogging abilities are unlikely to impress you again anytime soon.  It’s all very frustrating. I have my goals. I’d like to be meeting my goals and instead...  Well  I’m pretty sure this is what a toddler feels like when you put them on one of those lead things— “Come on, dude. I have places to go and people to see”.
I’ll talk more about my illness in my next post, not to bum you all out, but because I hope that having that information will prevent the same thing from happening to you, a family member, or God forbid, a child. Because it is preventable, it’s just not being prevented.
Now it’s the start of a New Year and you know what that means... resolutions! What are you going to do this year? I’m resolving to get well, and with a little bit of luck complete some of my ongoing goals, but a lot of that will depend on how sick the getting well part makes me. So I need to live vicariously through you all. No resolution is too big or too small. Share!

Hi all!

I hope you've been doing fanastically well since I last posted, and congratulations to anyone who has entered the So You Think You Can Write competition!

There have been a few sneaky calls for submissions and writing opportunities over the past week that you may have missed. Here's the list:

You can find the link from the previous tweet and further information about Brazen's Halloween 2013 call here.

You can find the link from the previous tweet here and Entangled's official call here.

You can find the link from the previous tweet here.

Thank you to Autumn McArthur for the heads up about this call for winter holiday romance anthlogies with a speculative element by World Weaver Press.

Also, Savvy Authors is hosting an Entangled Publishing Smack Down where editors from each of the lines are giving up their time FREE to tutor you. You can register and check for availabe places here, but there is more information about requirements & prep here.

If the Smack Down isn't for you, Savvy Authors is also running a NaNoWriMo boot camp here.

And finally, don't forget that you can help make a publication dream come true by voting for a So You Think You Can Write entry. You get one vote every day.

Happy writing!
