When the tickets for the Barbara Hannay workshop this weekend still hadn’t turned up yesterday I made a call to see if something had happened. Something has happened, or perhaps not happened. We aren’t on the list.
Apparently we just missed out, so the order went through, hence my lovely printed confirmation, but it must have been just seconds after someone else’s order, and the payment was then reversed. It’s a rather disappointing discovery and you’ve just got to love technology when something like this happens.
I suppose the lesson is to obsessively compulsively check your bank account to make sure that your confirmation is in fact a confirmation? Where’s an IT genius when you need them?
Sadly this also means that I will have nothing to share with you all. I blame the computer gremlins…

oh dear! that bites :(
Hope you find something else to do instead :)
Bummer, Lacey! And you were so looking forward to it too...
But that gremlin is so cute, don'tcha think? Even if he is a pain.
Okay Lacey which of the three commandments did you break: exposing your computer to bright lights, getting it wet or feeding it after midnight?
I'm a complete luddite myself so I understand exactly where you're coming from. Commiserations on missing out.
Maybe you could just pretend you went to a workshop and then make stuff up and post that? Not that I need an excuse to visit your blog but if you got really creative it could make for some interesting comments....
Oh, Lacey, what a bummer. :( have some virtual chocolate from me...
Sorry to hear that, Lacey. Man, those computer gremlins are really picking on you!
Aw, bummer, Lacey! I hate it when that happens.
Oh, I'm so sorry. You must have been so disappointed. Hope the rest of your weekend is better.
Oh no, that is terrible! And what shocking customer service from the festival, I think they should have honoured your booking. I can't imagine Barbara Hannay would have minded one more person at her workshop?
Lacey, my google alert popped up this blog post -- and I'm so sorry you missed the workshop yesterday. You were missed! I actually asked around to see if you were there.
I don't suppose it's possible for you to get to Townsville next weekend. I'm doing a full day workshop there.
So sorry to hear about your gremlins. (But Gizmo is adorable!) Computers are great when they work the way they're supposed to. A pity they couldn't make an exception since you had your confirmation and all.
There will be a blog award waiting for you on mine tomorrow (Wednesday - UK time).
Well that really stinks, but I do love an adorable computer gremlin, hard to stay mad.
I'm a new follower *waves* and how cool that I made your 30th!!! Yes, I'm nerdy like that!
Kerrin - Thanks! I studied instead... ;)
Angie - I was looking forward to it :( The gremlin's are cute. That movie use to terrify me as a child but now I just want to hug it! lol
Elissa - I swear I broke no commandments! I think it's just a really great reflection on my ability to buy tickets over the internet. LOL I can just imagine what that post would look like and I'm pretty sure that the writing police come to get you.
Sally - Thanks! Chocolate always makes it better :)
Nicole - I know! I think you should only have one computer problem a year. I'm sure there are people out there who have machines that run perfectly. I dislike these people ;)
Jackie - Thanks :)
Thanks Julia!
Leah - I don't think it was really their fault just one of those funny things that are never likely to be repeated where two people purchase at the same time. I did think about trying to sneak in the back but unfortunately I was never whacked over the head with the sneaky stick so I'm a goody two shoes through and through ;)
Barbara - Thanks for missing me :) I was so disappointed that I couldn't come. I did look at the Townsville workshop too but I'd already missed the cut off date :( I now have an exam on the same day so it's probably for the best.
I'm not giving up though. I have my fingers crossed that you'll do some workshops again next year and if so I'll be signed up for them the second the tickets go on sale :)
Wendy - I love gizmo too! Hopefully Barbara will do more workshops next year :)
Diane - Thanks so much! I'll be there :)
Julia - Thanks :)
Hugs, Lacey. It's horrid to be disappointed like that.
