… to scream!
Secrets, Kiss and Baby Wishes has a full manuscript request and as its mother I am very proud.
This is my first full request and I have to say it’s thrilling to know that my writing isn’t all that bad after all ;).
I am looking for a wee bit of advice though on the cover letter (pernickety aren’t I?). I have come across a couple of arguments, one being that it suffices to simply introduce your manuscript and provide contact details, the other advice suggests an approach similar to the query letter encompassing your writing history etc however I do feel like I’m repeating myself and my aim isn’t to irritate.
Thanks guys!

That is brilliant news, Lacey! I was so pleased to read this and it's put a big smile on my face.
I think you would be right to just send a cover letter if you've already given them info about yourself - but that's just my opinion.
I'm so excited for you x
Yay!! lacey, I'm so pleased for you :-) Where is this book? Is it in NY, a Desire?
I have no wonderful advice on query letters but the wonderful Kate Walker a blog post about that subject a while back. Can't remember when ... but maybe you could do a search on her blog?
Congrats again :-)
Thanks Teresa! :)
Thanks Joanne! :)
It is for Desire (NY) so its got to put it's traveling boots on ;)
Oh wow - Congratulations!!!
In my not particularly experienced opinion, I'd think a simple cover letter stating that you're sending the full following their request is enough. They already know who you are from your first letter.
Lacey, WOOHOO!!! I'm thrilled for you! How exciting. You've got it all written and ready to go?
Thought there might have been something up when you posted on eHarl... :-)
My full request was via email so I just emailed it through to the editorial assistant, no more details etc - they knew who i was. Same here I reckon. I wouldn't have thought you'd need all that other detail. They know you can write otherwise they would't have requested your ms.
Hey Lacey,
I have absolutely no idea honestly as to the cover letter but I just want to offer a huge congrats, that is just fantastic news!
I'm so happy for you because as you said, at least you know you're writing is up to scratch and maybe this request will boost the auld confidence right up there.
The very best of Irish luck is being sent your way and I can throw in some leprechauns too if you like?????
Aideen.
Congratulations, Lacey. That is such great news!!!
As for the cover letter, I would suggest including all of the info that you put in your first letter as well as referencing the request. I imagine that they request a lot of fulls and you want to make sure that they remember everything about you. But that's just my 2 cents.
Wow Lacey,
That's fantastic news. Is this the one you submitted the logline for in the pitch contest in July?
Again, awesome news and do let us know how you get on.
Sri.
thats great!
Yey Lacey that is fabulous news! Wishing you lots and lots and lots of luck and good vibes. I'm sure your writing is terrific because I love reading your blog!Good good stuff... Yey! jx
WHEY HEY - screaming right along with you. FANTASTIC NEWS. I'm so pleased, Lacey. Well done, you.

That's brilliant news, I'm really pleased for you Lacey :-)
A little validation always helps!
Coming in late to say congrats! Can't offer any advice though...
Congratulations Lacey! that's great news! For my 2 cents worth, you've obviously done the business with query, synopsis and chapters and got not only a response, but a name to deal with so I'd go with Teresa and just send a letter referencing theirs with the full.
I've got 2 fulls out there at the moment with different people, not m&B yet but they're looking at a partial. Fingers crossed for both of us!
Thanks everyone! :D
