Harlequin Desire Makeover

It seems the Desire line has had a makeover Down Under. The interesting thing is that it’s just the Desire line and only the Desire line. If I pretend to be intelligent, I could probably draw a connection between the makeover and the switch from Silhouette Desire to Harlequin Desire. Anyway, have a peek at the before and after:

BEFORE                   AFTER

What do you think? I’m not going to lie. My first reaction was “Urgh!” but that was probably more reflection on my resistance to change than anything else. I can see where the marketing gurus were going with it. It does look a lot cleaner, not as busy - less is more. The swirl at the top is a clever representation of the trademark rose.

I think it’s growing on me.

To be fair, it is just a graphic.  I'm sure it's more impressive in the "flesh".  There's a lot of competition out there.  It has to be eye catching to catch the eyes.

When it comes down to it,  as long as I have an author, a title and a blurb with a cracking emotional story inside I’m good.

What do you think about the new covers?  And feel free to love them or loathe them because someone needs to be sure how they feel about them.

Lacey, the covers look like the old ones they had several years ago. I don't know if it would make me pick up the books if I wasn't already looking for them.

I have to agree, Anne. I like the bigger picture from the previous covers over the red background.

I agree with you, Lacey, I also like the bigger pictures but the thing is if it's a HM&B, I'll pick it regardless of the cover or even the line!

Nas - I think that HM&B must have incredible readership loyalty. It seems that most of us aren't fussed by the covers anymore as long as it has that HM&B logo on it.

Hi, Lacey.
I'm a Desire girl from way back so I would buy them no matter what the covers looked like.
:)
