Wall of Fame: There's a Whopping 25 of Us!

And we’re all fabulous too.

I wanted to say another big congrats to the Top Ten, especially to Wall of Fame member Leah Aston of Team Jessica with her entry Secrets & Speed Dating.

I also wanted to say a very special thank you to everyone for all their encouragement and support. I’ve read so many fantastic chapters and I really hope that everyone is going to submit the ol’ fashioned way.

There’s a lot of fun to be had in the slush pile ;)

The Wall of Fame: Tina Vaughn

A belated congratulation to Tina who submitted her New Voices entry on September 22! Tina’s been battling with blogger to get a comment through to me. Don’t you love technology? ;)

Tina’s chapter has a hint of political scandal, a vengeful alpha male and a sparky heroine. Something tells me this hero’s plan for revenge is going to backfire…

You can read all about his plan at:

The Wall of Fame: Joanne Cleary

CONGRATS to Joanne who submitted her New Voices entry on September 22! Joanne, you sneaky minx you! I missed your entry before I posted yesterday! It’s my own fault, I lost my original list of people I thought were entering and after a while the pink blurs a bit – or it does for me. Note to self: wear reading glasses...

Joanne’s chapter has one sexy Australian athlete, a cheeky nurse, fabulous dialogue and hint of delicious things to come. She’s a tease really ;) I don’t suppose Rachael needs help with her duties? I think I could manage a sponge bath for Trent if I really had to…

Get yourself a sexy Australian athlete with abs of steel at:

Suzanne’s chapter had me hooked from the start, I love the premise and I suspect her heroine’s already getting herself into trouble, but who can blame her?

You’ll know what I mean when you check out her hero ;) which you can do at:

Suzanne Jones: Manhunt (Contemporary)

Romy’s chapter has sink your teeth into it chemistry and features an unwavering heroine and a (to quote Joanne Pibworth)  swoontastic  Italian alpha male.   You can't say no to that!

Our first Passion entrant!

Abbi Cantrell submitted her New Voices entry 17 September!  I read it, I commented on it, and… I didn’t add her to The Wall! Try and work that one out.

The Wall of Fame: Kerrin Hearfield, Joanne Pibworth & Marcy Bassett Kennedy

A HUGE congratulations to Kerrin, Joanne and Marcy who submitted their New Voices entries today, 13 September!  Grab yourself come cheese, bubbly and a paper bag.  Not that you'll that last one!

In Kerrin's The Price of Passion the hero and heroine have a past and you just know that in close quarters things are going to get even more interesting.

Joanne's Sequins and Secrets has a fabulously unique setting and shhh that's all I'm going to say, but you'll love it so go see for yourself!

Marcy's From One Night to Forever has a spitfire heroine who doesn't need a man to rely on but I don't think that's going to stop her hero.

Get A New Voices Entry or Commentor Badge

When you submit your entry for the New Voices Competition 2010 you get an entry badge, a badge of bravery if you will!  Why?  Because I say so.  I've got one that you can add a link to your story to if you wish and a regular one too.

I'm also happy to change wording etc if you like - multiple heads are better than one and all that.

For anyone who is fabulous enough to be published or isn't entering this year there's a commentor button, because who can resist a blog badge?

The badges are below and they're easy enough to grab, just right click and Save Picture As... You can add it to your blog as a picture gadget and that's where you'll be able to enter your link too.  Any problems don't hesitate to ask!

New Voices Launch Day!!

Woot!

Alrighty, anyone submitting a New Voices first chapter gets into the Wall of Fame – please turn to your left. Y’all get your name, submission date, targeted category plus your MS title (if you like) locked in and the mere mortals around you must bow and kiss your feet.

When we all get into the top ten we’ll break out the champagne and fancy cheese.  Hey, I don’t care that they think it’s only going to be ten.  When they get a load of us...

I should catch your own submission announcements but in case a piano falls on my head and I miss it, drop me a line!

Good luck!

NV and the Synopsis Rumor

Was anyone else thrilled by the distinct lack of the word “synopsis” in the competition? Mills & Boon have recently mentioned that there will be an opportunity for a brief summary of your story and on the author front the ‘s’ word has popped up in the forums. I bet you’re all hoping this is leaning toward a blurb rather than two pages of single spaced torture (I’m feeling dramatic today).

Advice pages from authors:

Note:  Mills & Boon are recommending that the pivotal moment be no more than 1000 words so that gives you 9K to divide between your two chapters.  It's important to keep this in mind in order to submit a practical word count for the first chapter.  I'd hate to see anyone write themselves into a corner.

Forward Your New Voices Questions To...

When The Pink Heart Society grabbed Editor Lucy Gilmour for a question and answer session I was pretty thrilled to get the competition parameters clarified. I had been hearing rumours that the competition was open to more than just the UK lines, and thanks to Lucy we now know that it’s true! You can enter anything from Desire to Nocturne, which opens the field right up. It’s going to be one whopping competition.

Angie Peters also asked some great question that you may want the answers to yourself so pop over to the blog here to read Lucy’s post, the comments and answers so far (including the power of the voters over the end results), and of course to add your own questions.

Thanks Lucy!
